Question new Mobile DJ set up
HI I'm new to the forum so hopefully i don't bug you with all my questions

My dad had a mobile DJ late 80's and most of the 90's

and now I want to start my own "BUT"

theres a lot of different gear out there and i cant make up my mind

some dude told me that big carpet speakers are a thing of the past

another said to get powered not passive speakers

my question is how well are this small plastic speakers

do I need 3 or 4 for a big venue? ( because they are expensive)

is it possible if you guys can post some pics of you're rig so i can get some ideas I will really appreciate it

well its not that big carpet speakers are a thing of the past
its that most mobile DJs have no need to use the larger speakers
anymore due to powered speakers being available. Not all
powered speakers are good. Some of your better speakers will
cost a good bit though. But when you look at it its almost the
same price as buying passive + amp. The amount of speakers
depends not only on venue but crowd size and the actual dance
floor area. You don't have fill the entire venue with sound if
people will not be dancing in the entire space. I don't think I even
have any recent pics of my setup but I'll have some this Fri after
my gig Thurs.

one of the smaller ones

Man pyro your setup is clean. See that what I am trying to do. But I like how simple ur light setup is.

Nice setup Pyro! I would add a Facade in front of your table to hide those wires but it looks good! Why two Laptops for? I know one is for audio but what is the other for?

to be honest.. you can have a clean setup for cheap. I got my table skirt made from a fabric store for like 60$. And don't forget black cords and black zip ties. !!!!

You can use some black electrical tape to wrap that orange extension cord to help hide some of it.


BTW, very nice set up....

ha yes i could have ... but that would have taken forever ...stupid me had the black cord ... and couldn't find it... when i got home... there it sat on the floor of my basement ! WTF

thanks, thats the smaller light setup I have 2 more lights
but they are broke right now b/c my stand fell one night
before the gig. I 4got to lock the pins down but oh well.

what wires? all the wires are on my side of the table. You can't
see wires hanging down the front side of the table at all. The only
visible wires from the setup are the ones from the CDJs going into
the Serato box which is under the mixer. Don't want to hide the CDJs
as that just takes away from the whole DJ look. Both laptops run
audio. I have Serato on both laptops. That night I had the Vaio
running the dinner music and the MacBook for the party. I have a
Rane Empath mixer so I plug the Vaio right into the mixer so I can
control everything from the mixer.
