Default R.I.P. Geoge Steinbrenner

The greatest owner in the history of sports. Other teams wish they had an owner as passionate about winning as George. We owe him a great deal for building the Yankees back up again. Rest in peace, George Steinbrenner. And thank you.

Your number 1 fan.

Yes sad day for Yankee fans. He did so much for New York that many do not know about. He bought a struggling Yankee franchise for 8.7 million and it is now worth 1.7 Billion! R.I.P. George "The Boss"

Growing up in the NYC area, i had a hate/love relationship with "the BOSS." I was taught to be a Yankee fan at an early age, and had to endure the Yankees being just god-awful during the 80's as an impressionable kid, but then was rewarded in '96. He would fire managers for seemingly no reason (Buck Showalter and Stump Merrill) and when he was banned in 1990, i thought the end of the Bronx's suffering was over....Last thing i would have thought that he would have had the humility to step back and let Torre, Gene Micheal and the rest of his staff be baseball people and guide that team to the success it would eventually have in the late '90's. Sad week for Yankee fans, but you gotta know that this just means that the bombers aren't gonna disappoint this year, with so many people to try to uplift...

I was actually IN MANHATTAN the other day, when i heard (Actually, i read it on a news ticker in times square..) that the PA (Sheppard) passed away, and was a little upset that i'd never hear that voice again. RIP to both...
