they did this with the Urei Mixers as well...the just replaced all the UREI 1601S to UREI 1601E....so thats what they did with the 58...they keep the same specs as the 56 until they get official word from RANE to post specs...

The only thing missing for me on the TTM56 is:
Built in SSL and the much needed switch for phono inputs to work as line level.
I can think of a couple more goodies but I will not speculate anymore...

Yeah MDX, that's why I'm still leaning towards the Mackie d.2 (and the price tag too). Just waiting for Half to get his in and really put it through the rigors. :p

All I can/will say is there is a new mixer coming out from Rane.
Will it be a TTM58?
We will just have to wait and see until Rane gives the ok for the News Release.
There are a crap load of rumors on this model already floating around.
Here is one of the better ones.
Remember this is a rumor, although a damn good one, but none the less still a rumor.
For all the doubters, you'll see. I am risking my job letting yall know bout the 58. We are supposed to play dumb; we have lots of 56's we need to get rid off. Are profit margin is not as much as we forecasted due to the minor and major problems we've had with the 56. We still want yall to buy 56' s and not wait for the 58's. We have new and improved optical faders, beefing up the chasis if you will, improved sound quality, 5 channel eq's , w/kills. MIDI and Sp/dif synced via light pipe. Will also come with 3 optional sized fader knobs. All for under 800$. Thank goodness my bosses dont frequent this board. And if you tell him youll get a 45 lb slab to the domepiece.
If you pick it apart you might be able to tell what is real and what is not...or let's just say what makes sense and technically works together....

So much stuff for us djs to choose from. This is why making choices concerning equipment can be so difficult.

Yes, and as competition increasingly raises the bar it will become very difficult.
But, like it has always happened there will only be a few that get it right.
And many great ideas that never seemed to materialize into a finished product on the shelves.
I will be getting all new equipment this year....let's see who it will be from... ;-)
