as requested by JJ sometime ago, here's a short tutorial on how to shorten your crossfader's cut-in... most people know this, but anyway, let's go:
1) open your mixer (no. really?)
http://www.tranqui.net/mixermod/1.jpg
2) see, you got to move the fader quite far to actually hear sound...
http://www.tranqui.net/mixermod/2.jpg
3) take a plastic business card or an old credit card (hence the name), cut out a fitting piece, then cut out rows for the screws' shafts to fit in.
adjust the cut in by moving the piece, then hold it down and re-tighten the screws; done. enjoy! oh yeah, you might want to record a few cuts
and look at the waveform to see if there's no signal between them; this way you'll be sure that you didn't **** it up.

glad to read that ^_°
(just goes to show that you don't always need a vestax, ecler, urei or rane...)

no problem....I'm just waiting on the cp-pro fader..should be here any day...
I'm in talks with Siya with eclectic breaks/proxfader...and according to them the proxfader might work with some wire & plate modding....i have 2 spare proxfaders here so I will get crackin on that as well.... if it works than this might be a viable option for people who can't afford an empath, nuo 3...or any expensive 3+ channel mixer....
p.s.
if you haven't noticed...I like to buy mixers and take them apart and mod them to the way I wish my dream mixer would be like...lol..right now I'm working on my Xone 02 to have individual outs for each channel (a la Stanton SA-8 )...
all this modding and crap is time i use while i..(we)..wait for my ttm57...lol

yeah but I just found out that it'll require quite a bit of work to get pioneer's efx-1000 connected... no send/return and only 3 channels... grr, I love this mixer and all the **** I can do with it, but if I don't figure out a workaround for the efx-1000 then I believe some day I'll be saying goodbye to it... well, just thinking for the time being. maybe a few switches will do the trick.
Wow. Thank you tranqui.
Very well illustrated.

Bummer, I hope you can sort it out. I know how much you like that mixer. You can't fault Numark though. With the added efxs, they didn't see a need to put a send/return feature.

@jj: thank you :)
You can't fault Numark though. With the added efxs, they didn't see a need to put a send/return feature.of course, I never even thought of blaming numark. I'm blaming pioneer for designing an efx unit with one input/output instead of two ins and outs and a goddamn softswitch. I mean, what the hell were they thinking... not everybody wants to use a djm-1000, for fucks sake. I'll have to create a HUGE workaround now. I don't even know if it's worth it. grrr. got beef with pio! great gear, stupid conections... or maybe I should get two of them efx's? lottery, anyone?
then again... two efx's and one kaoss pad... damn!!

I know, I've been patiently waiting for it. You think this will fix the lag on the DXM09 (so that it won't need the CC Mod)?

definitely. too bad numark didn't release a better, ultra-high-quality version of this mixer. with more channels. and a dxmpro-style badass look. man.

bona fide :) thank you!
yes, I still own the mixer, and I still love it. it has taken so much abuse, I can't believe it... btw, did you check out the vids on myspace/tranqui (http://www.myspace.com/tranqui)? you can hear the dxm09's filter in the first one.
I'm considering korg's zero series and ecler's evo5 now - I need more channels and more send/return flexibility. the decision will be made when denon and pioneer release their successor decks, though.
